GumGauge was proud to serve as an official partner at Imperial College's annual Sparkes Cup — one of the university's flagship internal rugby tournaments — as RCSU retained their title in a competitive day of rugby.

The Sparkes Cup brought together multiple Imperial teams for a full day of competitive sevens and contact rugby. GumGauge impact indicators were deployed across teams throughout the competition, giving coaches and match officials an objective visual reference point whenever a significant impact occurred.

Tournament rugby presents a specific challenge for player welfare: multiple back-to-back matches, fatigued players, and coaches managing several games simultaneously across different pitches. Having a visible, immediate signal on-field means welfare decisions can be made quickly — without having to wait for the next stoppage, or rely on the player themselves to flag something.

The Sparkes Cup was one of several Imperial fixtures where GumGauge was deployed during the 2024/25 season, as part of an expanded partnership with Imperial College Rugby that has grown consistently since its inception.

GumGauge is an objective tool to support sideline decision-making. It is not a diagnostic device, and does not replace assessment by a qualified individual.
